XXI Annual Céfiro Conference on Latin American and Iberian Languages, Literatures, and Cultures

“Literatures, Cultures & Languages:

Interdisciplinary Dialogues in the Humanities and Beyond”

March 5-7, 2020

Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas

We are pleased to request abstract submissions for the 2020 Céfiro Conference. The conference will explore how different areas of study – academic disciplines -- engage in a dialogue with literatures, cultures and languages. We welcome proposals that feature perspectives from the Sciences, Technologies, Engineering, the Arts and the Humanities (STEM/STEAM and beyond) intersecting with the Latin American and Iberian Worlds in what concerns the study of literatures, cultures, and linguistics.

We are primarily accepting papers and posters in Spanish, Portuguese, and English. For this XXI Céfiro, we are extending a special invitation for papers and posters in any other language that is in contact, linguistically and geographically, with Spanish and Portuguese such as (but not limited to) Basque, Galician, Valencian, Mayan, Quechua, among others.

Both individual proposals and submissions for panels of 3 to 4 papers will be considered. Conference panels will consist of 4 paper presentations 15 to 20 minutes long, followed by a Q&A session. Poster presentations will be held on March 6th at the afternoon’s coffee break.

XXI Céfiro is holding a special section in memory of one of the most important supporters of this academic event: Dr. Janet Pérez. Even if they fall outside the main topic of this conference (Interdisciplinarity) we encourage presentations on Galician and Catalan topics in order to participate in our “Honoring Dr. Janet Perez” panel(s).

Submissions specifications:

For papers and poster submissions, we expect two hundred and fifty (250) word abstracts submitted electronically as a Word document. Please do not include any personal information on the abstract.
