Borges y la parábola del nazismo: un análisis de la filosofía de Schopenhauer en "Deutsches Requiem"
Abstract
Mucha de la plasticidad del tiempo, identidad y realidad que es característica de obra de Jorge Luis Borges llega a su literatura a través de la influencia de la filosofía de Arthur Schopenhauer. La fascinación que tenía Borges con el filósofo alemán empezó cuando era muy joven. En un ensayo autobiográfico que apareció con el cuento "Deutsches Requiem" en una edición norteamericana de El Aleph, Borges se acuerda de haber leído la filosofía de Schopenhauer con su padre cuando vivían en Suiza durante la Primera Guerra Mundial (Sierra vii). Se puede ver que las ideas del filósofo alemán obviamente tuvieron un efecto muy profundo en Borges por el hecho de que el joven argentino se puso a aprender alemán específicamente para poder leer dicha filosofia en versión original (Sierra ix). A lo largo de su carrera como escritor, los conceptos principales de la filosofía de Schopenhauer tuvieron mucha influencia en su literatura. Estos vínculos se demuestran claramente en el cuento "Deutscbes Requiem" donde Borges entreteje la ultima narración de Otto Dietrich zur Linde, ex-jefe de un campo de concentración, con las ideas del filósofo alemán para presentar la catástrofe del Holocausto como una parábola de la cual la humanidad debe aprender.
