El Monstruo en el espejo: Miedo de sí mismo en la literatura grotesca
Abstract
Un aspecto de lo grotesco en la literatura es el Unheimlische (the Uncanny} Unheimlische ocurre cuando algo conocido o natural cambia y se transfonna en unacog monstruosa o extrafia. Este concepto fue explorado primero por el psiquiatra Ernst Jensa en 1906. El definió este concepto como la percepción de algo extraño en cosas conocidas o como una disonancia cognoscitiva. Cuando Sigmund Freud desarrolló su concepción del Unheimlische o Uncanny, en su crítica literaria, él dio nombre a este aspecto encontrado en la literatura grotesca. En esta literatura, el Uncanny o la disonancia cognoscitiva puede resultar en horror puro o puede crear una tensión interna entred horror y la risa. Dependiendo del contexto del cuento, el lector experimenta un sentido de inquietud, un equilibrio entre horror y humor, o un horror puro. El contexto del cuento depende del uso que el autor hace del Uncanny.
