El concepto del héroe y su desarrollo en la literatura española actual
Abstract
El estudio de la figura que representa el héroe parece a simple vista una tarea fácil y, sin embargo, no lo es en absoluto. La definición del DRAE lo vincula a los "antiguos paganos" y le hace hijo de un dios o una diosa y de sus amores con un ser humano. Pero también le otorga prestigio e integridad y le convierte en personaje prominente de la epopeya. Es, pues, un ser especial no comparable a los hombres normales que pueblan el mundo real. En la tradición clásica tiene el héroe otros atributos o vinculaciones; entre ellos su relación con las guerras, con las virtudes del heroísmo y sus propiedades histórica y simbólica; es una figura ejemplar. Por eso, si se observan, en general, los protagonistas de la novela de la democracia en España deberíamos cuestionarnos sobre la conveniencia de designar a los personajes de ficción como héroes o antihéroes, reflexionar sobre la validez sin reservas de la sinonimia entre personaje principal y héroe, y, en todo caso, especificar y sistematizar el uso del término en el estudio de la ficción actual de lengua española.
