Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is double-spaced; uses 12-point Times New Roman; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Author Guidelines

Céfiro is a graduate student organization at Texas Tech Univerisity, committed to the investigation and diffusion of Latin American and Iberian literature and culture. The journal publishes critical and fictional works on a wide range of themes and authors. Céfiro's journal is intended to be inclusive in its publications while maintaining its professionalism and integrity as an academic journal. 

Articles are submitted via Open Journal Systems editorial process and use parenthetical documentation, endnotes and a list of works cited as outlined in the Modern Languages Association Handbook (MLA 9 th edition) and linguistics articles (APA 7th edition).

We invite submissions for the following types of manuscripts:

  • Creative works of no more than fifteen double-spaced pages.
  • Film and book reviews of no more than fifteen double-spaced pages.
  • Critical Reviews of no more than twenty-five double-spaced pages.
  • Research articles that feature a study contributing to the scholarship in the field of Hispanic Linguistics of no more than 20 double-spaced pages.
  • Pedagogical intervention articles that feature a teaching practice that contributes to the teaching and learning process in literature, language and culture courses of no more than twenty-five double-spaced pages.

The journal publishes work written in Spanish, Portuguese or English. Documents must be typewritten in the Times New Roman font (12 points), with 1 inch margins in double-spaced and fully justified pages.

The editors of Céfiro will take reasonable steps to identify and prevent publication of papers where research misconduct has occurred,  including plagiarism, citation manipulation, and data falsification/fabrication, among others. In the event that the editors are made aware of any allegation of research misconduct relating to a published article in their journal, the editor shall follow the Committee on Publication Ethics guidelines in dealing with allegations.
